Privacy Policy

Life Chapters helps you create, edit, export, and optionally share a personal biography. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, when it is shared, and the choices you have. It applies to the Life Chapters mobile app, website, and related support pages.

Short version: we use your information to run your account, save your book projects, generate and transcribe content you request, create share links when you ask us to, and provide support. We do not sell your personal information or use your content for advertising.

1. Information We Collect

Account details: your display name, email address, phone number, and sign-in identifiers from Apple or Google when you choose those login methods.
Project content: biography text, chapter edits, cover settings, uploaded images, saved sketches, and audio you add to a project.
Voice input and transcription data: audio recordings you submit for transcription and the resulting text.
Shared content metadata: share tokens and reports submitted about shared public book links.
Support communications: information you send through the support or report forms, including your email address and message content.
Technical and security data: session data, basic request logs, and error information needed to operate, secure, and troubleshoot the service.

2. How We Use Information

Authenticate you and keep your account signed in.
Store, sync, and display your projects, chapters, uploads, and cover settings.
Generate AI-assisted biography text from the prompts and answers you provide.
Transcribe audio you submit into text.
Create exportable and shareable versions of a book when you ask for them.
Review abuse reports, respond to support requests, and enforce our Terms.
Maintain service reliability, fix bugs, and protect the security of the app.

3. When Information Is Shared

We share information only as needed to provide the service:

AI processing providers: text prompts, responses, and audio submitted for transcription are sent to OpenAI so the requested AI and speech features can run.
Infrastructure providers: hosting, storage, and authentication vendors process data on our behalf to keep the app available and secure.
Public share links: if you create a share link, the content included in that shared book becomes accessible to anyone with the link until the link or underlying content is removed.
Legal or safety reasons: we may disclose information if reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect users, investigate abuse, or enforce our policies.

We do not sell personal information. We do not use your biography content for behavioral advertising inside Life Chapters.

4. AI and Speech Features

Life Chapters uses third-party AI services to generate writing and transcribe speech. Those outputs can be imperfect, incomplete, or misleading, so you should review content before relying on it, publishing it, or sharing it with others.

5. Device Permissions

Microphone and speech recognition: used only when you choose voice input or transcription features.
Photos or file access: used only when you choose to upload images, cover art, audio, or other project media.

Life Chapters does not access these permissions in the background just to monitor you or collect unrelated data.

6. Retention and Deletion

We keep account and project data for as long as your account remains active or as needed to provide the service and resolve disputes. You can delete your account from the Account page. Deleting an account is intended to permanently remove your account record and related biography projects from active systems, including saved chapters, uploaded project media, and share links tied to those projects.

7. Security

We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards to protect account and project data, but no system can be guaranteed completely secure. You are responsible for protecting access to your own device and sign-in methods.

8. Children’s Privacy

Life Chapters is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided information to us, contact lifechapters@robbiema.dev so we can review and delete it if appropriate.

9. International Processing

Your information may be processed in countries other than where you live, including where our service providers operate. By using Life Chapters, you understand that these transfers may occur as needed to provide the app.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as the product evolves, new features launch, or legal requirements change. The updated version will be posted here with a revised “Last updated” date.
