Welcome to Life Chapters. This Privacy Policy explains how your personal information is collected, used, and shared when you use our mobile application and web service (the "App"). This App is developed and maintained by an independent hobbyist developer.

1. Information We Collect

We only collect information necessary to provide the App’s core functionality:

• Account Information: When you create an account (e.g., via Apple, Google, or Phone Number), we collect basic identifiers such as your display name and email address or phone number to authenticate you and secure your account.
• User Content: The text you write, the audio you dictate (which is transcribed to text), and any images you upload for your biography projects.
• Usage Data: Basic technical logs (such as crash reports and session data) required to debug issues and keep the App running smoothly.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information exclusively to:

• Provide, operate, and maintain your biography projects across your devices.
• Generate AI-assisted writing based directly on the prompts and answers you provide.
• Process your voice dictation into text.
• Provide customer support and respond to your requests.

We do not sell your personal data to anyone. We do not use your data for advertising, tracking, or profiling.

3. Third-Party Services & AI Processing

To provide our features, we rely on trusted third-party services. Your data is only shared to the extent necessary to make the App work:

• OpenAI: We use OpenAI's API to transcribe your voice and generate the biography text. Your audio and text are sent securely to OpenAI for processing. According to OpenAI's API data usage policies, they do not use data submitted via their API to train their AI models.
• Authentication & Hosting: We use secure cloud providers (such as Vercel and Supabase/Firebase) to host the App and securely store your account data and biography projects.

4. Data Retention and Deletion

Your biography projects and account data are retained only for as long as you keep your account active. You have full control over your data. You can delete individual chapters or your entire account at any time from the Account page inside the App. Deleting your account will permanently erase your personal data and biography content from our active databases.

5. Device Permissions

The App may request access to your device’s Microphone, Speech Recognition, or Photo Library. These permissions are strictly used to allow you to dictate text or upload cover photos. We do not access these sensors in the background.

6. Children's Privacy

Our App is not intended for use by children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we learn we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will delete it immediately.
